If you know me in person (which most of you probably don't) you'll know that I love the smart casual look. I'm that girl who went to school dressed in little collared shirts, blazers and black heeled boots. So when I feel like sketching, my designs usually have this as a common theme. My most recent design is in complete parallel with this idea. A simple black and white, skater style, pinafore dress. I thought it would go perfectly paired with a little white collared shirt (which ironically was in the wash when I was taking the photos) underneath, and black tights. Blending the smart, the shirt, and the casual, the skater style dress, together seamlessly.
As this was my first time attempting to make a dress, I was well aware that it probably wouldn't turn out perfectly. There is a slight fault at the front of the dress (where I ran out of material) and I completely forgot about lining it. Aside from these problems, which I will bare in mind next time, I'm very happy with the final outcome.
Wow that is awesome. It looks really good! I always wanted to learn how to sew, but never really got to it. I will definitely look into it soon. :) Lovely design!

Aw thank you! Yeah it doesn't look too bad but I'll definitely have to look out not to do the same thing next time! So pleased you like it!
DeleteThis is beautiful!! I love the sketch, and (first time or not) i think you did an amazing job bringing it to life through sewing! Makes me really, really want to get back into sewing...I'm in no way avid (and your first try is better than my first try), but it really is fun to envision an outfit and be able to bring it into existence all on your own!
ReplyDeleteπAlissa, https://StoryBehindTheCloth.com
aw Thank you so much! You definitely should get back into it, I totally agree with you. One of my favourite things about making clothes, it the designing aspect. I love that I get free reign on what I make, and at the end I get to wear it! (which can be slightly problematic if it sucks aha)
DeleteI absolutely love this dress! Definitely something I would wear! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you! xx
DeleteLove this design! Looks great on you x
